Group recycles medical equipment to give to the needy
Have an old wheelchair collecting dust in your house or a cane you’re not using anymore? There is a way to recycle medical equipment and help someone in our community.
Goodwill Industries of the Valleys gives all those items to a non-profit organization called FREE or the Foundation for Rehabilitation Equipment Endowment.
Sonja Schaible with the FREE Foundation said “Everything here is donated from the community for us to give back to the community for free.”
Last year FREE gave away 553 pieces of equipment worth $145,000.
Before anything leaves here, it’s refurbished, inspected, and sanitized to make sure it’s in tip top condition.
